How to Make Money Selling Things You No Longer Want

You never really understand how much stuff children truly accumulate until you have one. Just think about it. Infants are growing out of their clothes roughly every three months and are always advancing into more age appropriate toys and gear. Even when children are older they can only typically fit in their clothes for a about year. Meanwhile, their tastes are always changing which means their toys and gear are always changing too. What this boils down to is a ton of extra items in your closets and garage that are making friends with the dust bunnies. One way to stop from becoming a star on Hoarding: Buried Alive is to sell the items you can no longer use. Selling items was one of the first ways I started earning money from home which you can do in a variety of ways.

Craigslist. Craigslist is an online classifieds website where you can sell items that you no longer want or need in your hometown. This is the place I usually come if I am trying to sell a large item that I wouldn't want to ship. When it comes time to make the transaction I would recommend meeting at a public place instead of your house (if possible) just to be on the safe side. Tip: Sometimes you can sell children's items for more money here than at a consignment shop because they are looking to make a profit.

eBay. eBay is an online auction site where you can sell items in an auction style or by a fixed price. I usually come here to sell smaller or popular items that I can ship easily.

Consignment Shops. Most areas have stores that will buy your old items and clothes for a small amount of money. That's better than them accumulating dust in the garage! Examples of these are Plato's Closet, Once Upon a Child, Re-Kid, and Kid to Kid. You just walk in and hand them what you want to sell. After they have checked the items for quality and various other things they will offer you a price for the items they want to buy. You can say yes or no to their offer, the choice is yours. Tip: When I am trying to sell old kid items I usually take them to a few consignment shops in the area to see if they will buy what other stores didn't want-just to be thorough.

Garage Sales. Or stick to the classic way of selling things you no longer want.
